Drivers-Ed Information for Students
The Sioux City Community School District (SCCSD) plans to offer one session of driver education class this Spring at East High school immediately following school from 3:05 to 4:35 pm. The class will start on Monday, March 1st, 2021 running for 6 weeks finishing on Saturday, April 10th, 2021. Dates could change due to weather or COVID regulations.
Classes will be held Tuesday through Friday but will have driving sessions Monday through Saturday to ensure we end in six weeks. The end date could vary due to weather or illness outbreak. Masks are required for class and driving.
Registration for Spring Traffic Education will begin on Monday, February 8th with the deadline for all registrations ending on Friday, February 26th, or once spots are all filled. Spots are filled on a first come first serve basis. The cost for the class will be $385. (School waivers are accepted for reduced at $175 and free).
1. The student must be 14 years of age.
2. The student must have a valid Iowa learner’s permit.
3. A complete deposit for the class fee must be made to the high school you are registering at in order to be completely registered.
Registration forms must be filled out online only and will be processed in the order in which they were received. Click here to visit the registration site and form. The link will be live at 6:00 PM on February 8, 2021. If the link no longer works after that date, it means we have 36 students registered. Our bookkeeper will call to process payments for the first 36 who sign up. If the class fills, those remaining will receive notification that they are on the waiting list. Another session is anticipated during the Summer.
Registration is limited to 36 available spaces. Enrollment will be accepted, based on the date order in which registration forms are received and time stamped, until capacity is met. Students placed on a waiting list are not guaranteed a place in the class. For questions, contact John Torno (North High School) at (712) 239-7000 x3511
